Vehicle Inspections

When you plan to buy a used car, it is worthwhile for both sides to get the vehicle checked. Buying a car is an investment, that involves thousands of dollars in expense. Our inspection offers a peace of mind and the knowledge that your money is well spent in a car that is worth it.

At Smart Auto Check we understand that the real problems of buying a used car can be hidden beneath the hood, in the exhaust system, the transmission or the fuel injectors. By looking at a car and taking it for a spin you can't get a good estimation of possible mechanical problems lurking behind that bright, shiny exterior. Most dealers won't let you take the car off their lot and take it to your mechanic to inspectt it. This is where we come into the picture, Smart Auto Check will send a mobile mechanic with a full equpied mobile unit to preform the inspection on the sellers premisses and save you time and money by providng a real peace of mind to both the seller and the buyer.

What kind of service does Smart Auto Check Ltd. provide?

You found the vehicle you would like to buy? Dont waste your time with auto shops. Call Smart Auto Check Ltd. and one of our telephone operators will send an inspector to the seller's house or dealership by your request.

Step 1: Originality check and Vehicle History Report.

Our inspector will check if the vehicle is not counterfeit or stolen, by checking the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the body of the vehicle

Step 2: Visual test,  Under body Inspection.

Our inspector will make a visual check (frame, body, etc.) to determine whether the vehicle was involved in any accidents; minor or major – the vehicle will be lifted 3 ft. above the ground with jack and its undercarriage will be checked.

Step 3:  Paint thickness check. Out body inspection.

Using a paint thickness device (which measures the thickness of paint coating) our inspector will determine if the vehicle was involved in accidents that can’t be visually recognized by naked eye, if any part of the vehicle was painted or some outside parts of the vehicle were repaired/replaced.

Step 4: Full Mechanical Inspection.

Our inspector will check the mechanical components of the vehicle – engine condition (computerized engine diagnostics are not included in the technical check price), gear box, brake system, steering system, exhaust system, starter, tires, fuel system, etc.

Step 5: Compression Test.

A compression test will determine the condition of the engine. An engine is essentialy a self-powered air pump, so it needs good compression to run, efficiently, cleanly and to start easily. As a rule, most engines should have 140 to 160 lbs. of cranking compression with no more than 10% difference between any of the cylinders. Low compression in one cylinder usually indicates a bad exhaust vavle. Low compression in two adjacent cylinders typically means you have a bad head gasket. Low compression in all cylinders would tell you the rings and cylinders are worn and the engine needs to be overhauled.

Step 6: Combustion Leak Test.

A combustion leak test is designed to check for the presence of combustion gases in the engine coolant. It should be performed when signs (overheating, bubbles in the coolant, rise in coolant level upon starting) point to a blown head gasket, cracked block, or cracked cylinder  head.

Step 7: Engine Code Reader.

OBD-II signals are most often sought in response to a "Check Engine Light" appearing on the dashboard or driveability problems experienced with the vehicle. The data provided by OBD-II can often pinpoint the specific component that has malfunctioned, saving substantial time and cost compared to guess-and-replace repairs. Scanning OBD-II signals can also provide valuable information on the condition of a used car purchase.

Step 8: Interior inspection and power accessories.

An inspection designed to check the conditions and functions of all the items inside the vehicle such as:  power  accessories (pw, pl/p/seats/htd seats-frt & rear, sunroof, audio, tilt/ telescopic, steering wheel controls, p/mirrors, navigation, climate control and more ...

Step 9: Test drive.

Our inspector will test drive the vehicle – check the vehicle in motion, sounds, vibrations, steering wheel steadiness, clutch, brakes, cruise control etc.

Step 10: Summary.

At the end of the check you will get a written CVTR report with an explanation, photos, Engine Compression Test diagram and the market value for this particular vehicle.

Don’t forget to ask our inspector for his own opinion of approximate prices for potential repairs, as well as his recommendations regarding the vehicle.
